Ouch Savy

Savy Ouch

Ouch Savy is one of Cambodian 's most talented and accomplished artists. Only 23, she is the prot g e of legendary Master Kong Nai, with whom she has performed in England, Australia and New Zealand. A virtuosic vocalist, she sings several styles of traditional Cambodian music, and plays the chapei dang Dang Veng, a Cambodian long-neck, twostring guitar. She has already released two CDs ' Mekong Detal Blues with Master Kong Nai and Sarika Keo with Mater Ieng Sithul. She is recording the third, solo album in Chicago in July 2010 where she performs first time in the United States. She is a recipient of a 2010 Elastic Arts peer teaching grant. She also teaches a traditional singing class to younger Cambodian in Phnom Penh. She sings with chapei dang veng of different styles from legendary chapei vocalist Pouthav Dai and Prach Chhuon with lyrics from Master Kong Nai. Most song lyrics are of educational values. She wrote a song about ÔÇÿwhatever man can do, woman can do it too '.

Sam Relief Dec 2012 Newsletter

Sam Relief was very busy in early April of 2012 and has delivered another 10 tons of rice to Angkor Children Hospital at Siem Reap.

Replica of Angkor Wat

We have bought a replica of Angkor Wat (picture shown above). It is a sculpture made out from stone, by a sculptor in Pursat province, Cambodia. It is 1.3 meter long, 1.1 meter wide and .35 meter high. It took more than 2 months to complete the sculpture. Click the picture to enlarge.


Phare Ponleu Selpak

Phare Ponleu Selpak (website: www.phareps.org) is a Cambodian association providing artistic activities to children and adults around the Battambang vicinity. The artistic fields are: performing arts (circus, theater, dancing, music), visual arts (cartoon animation, painting contemporary, illustration and graphic design) and social actions (governmental school pre-school through high school, child care center, and transitional youth house).
